The SCT has had the privilege of enjoying the invaluable participation of top musical artists such as Josep Carreras, Jaume Aragall, Jordi Savall, La Locomotora Negra, María Bayo, and Joan Pons, all internationally recognised and admired by the most discerning audiences.

There have been memorable recitals and concerts which have given a special distinction to our congresses and which remain in the memories of those able to attend. Their music has touched us deeply and through them we have been able to experience unique, unrepeatable beauty and magic.

Art seeks to contribute to the enrichment of our lives and these musicians have achieved that. With their voices and their instruments they have transformed the music and elevated it to the highest levels. Science has that same commitment - to uplift the lives of the people.

Our scientific Society feels strongly bound to those artists with whom we have an aspiration in common; so it is not for nothing that the transplant community consider them of their own.

Josep Maria Subirachs

Josep Maria Subirachs

The SCT has the privilege of enjoying the generous contribution of Josep Maria Subirachs, one of the 20th century’s most important sculptors in our country.

At this time his best-known work must be the group of sculptures on the Passion façade and doors of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona with which he has been occupied for the last twenty years.

Now that he is about to turn 80 one can say that his fertile and intense creativity has taken him through various stages during his artistic life, from an initial period of nineteenth-century influence ('modernisme', in the Catalan context), until a later period of new figurative influence, passing through interesting stages of Expressionism and abstraction.

His art has included engraving, drawing, and lately also painting, fields in which he has expressed his entire creative trajectory.
